Hormone-Proof Chocolate Mug Cake

Serves 1 | Preparation time: 3 minutes


Ingredients

  • 30g oat flour (or oats finely ground in a blender)

  • 1 medium egg

  • 1 tbsp unsweetened almond milk (or water)

  • 1 tsp baking powder (for fluffiness)

  • 1 tsp raw cacao powder (magnesium boost!)

  • 1 square dark chocolate (at least 85% cocoa)

  • Optional: A pinch of cinnamon or a drop of vanilla extract


Preparation

 

  1. Mix: Take a large microwave-safe mug. Mix the oat flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder well with a fork.

  2. Add: Add the egg and almond milk. Stir vigorously until you have a smooth batter without lumps.

  3. The 'Surprise': Push the square of dark chocolate into the middle of the batter, so it just disappears below the surface.

  4. Bake: Place the mug in the microwave. Bake the cake for approximately 60 to 90 seconds at 800 Watt.

    Tip: The top should feel dry, but the inside can still be a little gooey from the melted chocolate.

  5. Enjoy: Let the mug cool for a minute (the mug will be hot!). Eat it directly from the cup or turn it out onto a plate with some extra raspberries.

Oven Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 180°C.

  2. Use the right mold: Make sure your mug is oven-safe (ceramic usually is, but check the bottom). You can also use a small ramekin or a mini springform pan. Lightly grease the pan with a drop of coconut oil or olive oil.

  3. Make the batter: Mix the ingredients exactly as in the recipe, but add an extra tablespoon of almond milk. In the oven, the batter is exposed to heat for longer, causing it to dry out a bit faster.

  4. Baking:

    • Place the dish in the middle of the oven.

    • Bake the cake for 15 to 20 minutes until cooked through.

    • Check at 15 minutes: Insert a skewer into the edge. The edge should be firm, but the center may still "wobble" a little due to the melted chocolate square.

  5. Patience: After baking, let the cake stand for 2-3 minutes. The inside is piping hot!

Bonus tip for the oven: If you bake it in the oven, you can also press a few raspberries on top before it goes into the oven. They will become wonderfully soft and warm.
