We do not only offer the very best ceremonial grade matcha, but also a practical matcha refill. The refill is ideal if you want to enjoy matcha regularly, because you can simply top up without buying a new package.

What is matcha and why is it so special?

Matcha is a finely ground green tea of the highest quality, straight from Uji, Japan – the region known worldwide for the best first grade matcha. What makes matcha unique is that you drink the whole tea leaf. This gives you a much higher concentration of nutrients than regular green tea.

Our Killerbody matcha comes from the first harvest of young tea leaves. These are picked with respect for centuries-old Japanese traditions. The result? A bright green colour, a soft taste and top quality you will not find anywhere else.

How do you recognise good matcha?

Not all matcha is the same. Here are a few tips to choose the best matcha:

  1. Go for Japanese matcha: matcha from Uji, Japan, is known as the very best because of its rich traditions and ideal growing conditions.
  2. Look for the first harvest: only the youngest, most delicate leaves are used for ceremonial first grade matcha.
  3. Colour is everything: good matcha has an intense bright green colour. Dull or yellowish tones point to a lower quality.

Our ceremonial first grade matcha from Killerbody meets all of these requirements, so you always enjoy the best quality.

How do you prepare matcha?

Preparing matcha is simple and a moment of calm:

  1. Measure: use our KillerBody Spato to measure 1 gram of matcha (about one level scoop).
  2. Add water: heat water to 70 degrees Celsius (do not boil!) and add a small amount to the matcha.
  3. Whisk: whisk with a bamboo whisk in a quick W motion until a creamy layer of foam forms.
  4. Enjoy: add more water for a pure matcha or milk for a latte (note: milk breaks your fast).

Sustainable refill pack

Our refill comes in a handy kraft paper refill pack, with the following benefits:

  • Good value: the refill is cheaper.
  • Letterbox friendly: fits through the letterbox, handy when you are not at home.

Buy the standard pack first and you receive a reusable matcha tin that you can refill again and again. Keep your matcha in the tin and store it in the fridge, so it stays protected from light and air and stays fresh as long as possible.

Why consistency matters

To get the most out of the benefits of matcha, it is important to drink it daily. With a flexible subscription on our Killerbody ceremonial first grade matcha you always have a fresh supply and you enjoy 15% off.

Veelgestelde vragen over Refill pack

The answer is simple: from the first harvest.

Our ceremonial-grade matcha is made from the first flush of young tea leaves, grown under shaded conditions. The result? An intense bright green color, a smooth flavor, and zero bitterness.

The second harvest uses older, less delicate leaves. This results in a duller color and a bitter aftertaste. Not what you're looking for, right? That's why we only select the best leaves from the first harvest.

Preparing matcha is a small ritual that makes your day special:

  1. Measure 2 grams of matcha with a bamboo spatula (chashaku).
  2. Add a little bit of water at a temperature of 70 degrees and beat it with a whisk until a foam layer forms.
  3. Top up with more water. Want a matcha latte? Add milk, but remember: this will break you down.
